To quote Albert Einstein, "Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts". I applaud Governor Charlie Crist for his courageous veto of Senate Bill 6. This veto is proof that thoughtful and sincere public pressure does work. Tens of thousands of you wrote, emailed and called to let the Governor know what was on your mind. As I wrote earlier this week in a "My View" regarding the wrong headed effort to balance the budget on the backs of public employees published by the Tallahassee Democrat, speaking out can make a difference. The veto is evidence that when enough people engage in the process with intelligence and passion, those is power listen. Please continue to engage in the political process. Make your voices heard. As your elected Representative, I am here to leverage your energy, dedication and commitment as we partner to make excellence the focus of public policy in Florida. |

We must reclaim respect and fairness for Florida's public servants and work to solve the health care crisis in Florida, particularly as it effects our most vulnerable: our children, our elderly, and our sick.
Michelle grew up close to where Susan B. Anthony campaigned relentlessly for suffrage. Here is one of her favorite quotes: “It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union.... Men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less.”
~Susan B. Anthony
