On the final day of the 2010 Legislative session, incentives for the film industry, which I have championed since being elected, cleared the legislature and went to the Governor.  In November 2009, I brought Jeffrey Donovan, the star of the hit series "Burn Notice", the only high impact television series currently filmed exclusively in Florida to the Capitol to highlight the need for more incentives and for the kick of of the bi-partisan "Film Entertainment and Television Caucus" which I formed.

The passage of the incentives will allow many of the graduates of the renowned Film School at Florida State to find fulfiling work in the Sunshine State.

The measure provides  total incentive of up to 30% (including bonuses) and  will rank Florida in the top 5 states offering incentives to garner new feature films and television series. The film incentive allocates tax credits over the next 5 years for qualified productions and expenditures: $53.5 million for FY2010-11, $74.5 million for FY 2011-12, $38 million per year for FY 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15. The impacts on the state budget are also delayed until FY 2011-12. This is a win for Florida, the hundreds of artists who work in the state and for taxpayers, because every dollar the state spends returns a dollar-forty-four to the state treasury.
