December 19, 2010- From the Tallahassee Democrat: State Rep. Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda (D-Tallahassee) is leading a task force to take a community look at bullying. Newsome, as well as about 25 other people including clergy, students, school district, Florida State and Florida A&M officials, are part of the task force. "We want to be a part of the awareness," Rehwinkel Vasilinda said. "I don't just want to talk about the issue." The group is just getting off the ground, but Rehwinkel Vasilinda helped plan a community screening in January of the movie "Bullied," about a boy who was bullied for years for being gay. The screening will be held Jan. 25 at the Tallahassee Community College Turner Auditorium. "There are all reasons to be bullied, for being the 'other.' We have to get beyond that culture," Rehwinkel Vasilinda said. |

We must reclaim respect and fairness for Florida's public servants and work to solve the health care crisis in Florida, particularly as it effects our most vulnerable: our children, our elderly, and our sick.
Michelle grew up close to where Susan B. Anthony campaigned relentlessly for suffrage. Here is one of her favorite quotes: “It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union.... Men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less.”
~Susan B. Anthony
