2007 has been a wonderful and exciting year, personally, professionally, and as a candidate. My special thanks to all of you who have helped me raise almost one hundred thousand dollars for my election campaign.

December was bittersweet. My favorite aunt, Catherine, my grandmothers namesake, passed away in Rochester New York after a battle with cancer. It was a time of closeness for our family as I was reunited with aunts, uncles, cousins and their children for three short days as we said goodbye and toasted a life well lived. I was privileged  to be asked by Aunt Katie’s four children to deliver the eulogy and share my fondest memories of my aunt. December  was also a time of joy as I watched my daughter Catherine accept an award from the Director’s Guild of America and graduate from the Film School at Florida State.

December was also busy professionally with final exams, and another goodbye to more than a hundred students whom I have watched grow over the last semester.

Combined, it is a reminder to us all that life is too short, that the best times of our lives lie ahead, and that we can make a difference by fighting the good fight wherever we find it.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Peace to all of you who have touched my life in so many ways over the past year.
